About Danny Pryp
Danny Pryp is a Latin-Australian artist with an interesting mix of cultures. Born in Venezuela, of Ukrainian, Spanish and Venezuelan descent, he moved to Australia 20 years ago and has spent his entire life in Sydney.
Danny comes from a family with generations of singers and artists. On the Spanish side, the whole family sings flamenco and Spanish ballads. After the death of his father at age 2, Danny and his mother returned to live with his grandparents, where his beloved Spanish grandmother (Edel) always had background music and a great passion for all kinds of musical genres. “Music has been an essential part of my daily life since my childhood” says the artist.
Danny’s music training began with intensive Classical Opera with Steve Ostrow, renowned for discovering and training Bette Midler, Peter Allan and Barry Manilow. He has also trained with LA-based Nicole Alexander, leader in Opera and Production in Australia and the United States.
In addition to music Danny Pryp has trained as an actor, graduated from the Screenwise School of Acting with Denise Roberts and studied privately with Lynette Sheldon and Annie Swan. He is also a trained dancer with experience in Samba, has danced at the Rio de Janeiro Carnival and was profiled on ABC television’s “Mondo Thingo” on a Bollywood dance feature.
Danny’s broad based performance abilities have secured him leading roles in high profile entertainment forums including; Australian Idol TOP 100, Dead Man Walking The Opera (Andrew McManus Presents), lead actor in CA-CHI-PUN, 3rd Prize winner Tropfest (World’s Largest Shorts Festival), as well as principal roles in RENT The Musical & Sweeney Todd in Sydney, Australia.
Danny has written and produced a number of sold out Cabaret Shows and is a regular guest performer at other Sydney venues and special events. Danny also produced the entertainment segment for the Sokka Gakkai International Peace Conference in Sydney and regularly sings on 5-Star Cruises in the Pacific.
As an audiovisual producer / director graduated from Sydney Film School, he has also received awards around the world for the production of his own music video clips such as the Hollywood Hills Award, Best Music Video at the Texas Film Festival Award and Diamond Award at the Hollywood Film Competition, among others.
Danny Pryp’s debut CD “El Amor” is pure feeling in all its guises, from the delights of romance and attraction to the anguishes of love and separation, from unbridled joy to the yearning for spiritual connection and release. A broad collection of romantic ballads, Spanish classics and contemporary pop songs held together by dynamic, lush arrangements and a remarkable voice that speaks directly to the heart and soul of the listener.
Returning to a part of his Latin roots, Danny Pryp launches “Sola”, a mixture of Pop and Urban rhythms, a letter that is in solidarity with loneliness, invites us to reflect on conquest, love and heartbreak. At this stage, Danny wants to reach the Latin American and Spanish-speaking public in other countries, whom he wants to infect with his inspiration, creativity and versatility.
